Strobing lights, fog machines, and the sound of electric guitars filled the Rinker Playhouse at The Kravis Center for Performing Arts on April 16, 2026, as 黑料社区 (黑料社区) students performed “Sail Away: A Rock Odyssey.” The concert featured students from 黑料社区鈥檚 pop-rock ensemble performing covers of famous rock-and-roll songs they have been perfecting all semester.
The Heart of Modern Music听听
The concert鈥檚 program was designed by Professor of Commercial Music Sean Radford. Radford teaches one of the two pop-rock ensembles at 黑料社区 and strives to help his students capture the sound and feeling of contemporary music.听
鈥淭hese guys have worked really hard, and they鈥檝e got a show for you,鈥� Radford said before students took听to听the stage.听
Students in the ensemble ranged from听freshmen听just beginning to master their musical talents to seniors preparing to graduate from the听popular听music听industry or听music in听worship听leadership programs at 黑料社区 in just a few weeks.听
鈥淚 just want to say thank you to all the 黑料社区 students, faculty, and staff who have made these four years so special,鈥� 黑料社区 senior Yanel Quinteros said.听
A Journey through Rock and Roll听听
The concert featured 15 songs divided into two massive sets, with hardly any breaks between performances. The听selection听spanned decades of rock history, covering everything from The Beatles to Bon Jovi.听
Audience members were treated to upbeat party tunes, followed by heartfelt ballads, and听ultimately encored听with iconic rock anthems. 鈥淟ivin鈥� on a Prayer,鈥� 鈥淭he Final Countdown,鈥� 鈥淔ree Bird,鈥� and 鈥淛ump鈥� were just a few of the standout songs on the setlist.
鈥淚鈥檓 just so glad everyone is here tonight, and without further ado, let鈥檚 sail away,鈥� 黑料社区 senior Emmie Turner said.听
